GitHub App
Connect your GitHub repositories to give Otis context about your codebase, pull requests and deployments.
The Otis GitHub App connects Otis to your repositories on GitHub. It gives Otis context about your codebase, your pull requests and your deployments. Otis uses that context when it analyzes how your product is used.
Two examples:
- Deployments. When a connected repository creates GitHub deployments, Otis records each one as a change, next to the deploys it detects from your telemetry.
- Project matching. A coding agent can find the right Otis project for the repository it is working in, because each project lists its linked repositories.
Connecting GitHub is optional. To instrument your app with the Otis SDK, use the agent skills in your coding agent, or follow a guide in the SDK section.
Connecting GitHub
- A team admin connects GitHub in the team's settings. GitHub asks which repositories Otis can access.
- Each project links its repositories. In the project's settings, a project admin chooses which of those repositories belong to the project.
The onboarding chat also offers to connect GitHub as its last step, and you can skip it.
Access to your repositories
Otis can reach only the repositories you choose when you install the app. A team admin can change that selection later with the Adjust permissions link in the team's settings, or disconnect GitHub there.
